Frequently asked questions
How is this different from drawing a black box in another app?
An ordinary black box only covers; the text underneath can still be copied or searched. Here, pages with marks are redrawn without that hidden text, so the content is truly gone.
Why can't the text on redacted pages be selected anymore?
Pages with redaction areas are turned into images so that nothing of the redacted content remains in the PDF. Other pages keep their text as it was.
Are people's names detected automatically?
Not yet. Ready-made patterns recognize fixed shapes such as email addresses, phone numbers, and ID numbers. Names, addresses, and medical terms need to be searched as text or marked with a box.
