Frequently asked questions

Will the layout be exactly the same?

Not always. The goal is a document that is easy to edit: flowing paragraphs, headings, bold and italic text, ruled tables, and images. Multi-column layouts and footnotes are not rebuilt yet, so they come out as ordinary paragraphs.

What about scanned PDFs?

Pages without a text layer are read with OCR in the languages you choose. Pages that already contain text are not run through OCR, so their original text stays unchanged. The number of OCR pages per file is limited.

Can a password-protected PDF be converted?

Not in this tool yet. Remove the lock first with the password you know, then upload the unlocked PDF.
